Privacy Policy

Tenner ("we", "us", or "the app") is a social app for creating and comparing top-10 lists with friends. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account info: email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) basic Google profile info like your name and profile picture.
• Content you create: lists, list items, group names, group memberships, friends, reactions, and comments.
• Usage data: standard logs (timestamps, errors) needed to keep the app running.

How we use your information

• Core features: authenticate you, save your lists, share with your friends and groups, and notify you of activity.
• Account communication: email confirmations, magic links, and important updates about your account.
• Improvement and debugging: diagnose errors and improve the app.
• Social suggestions: we may use your lists, and the lists of people connected to you, to suggest gift ideas or recommendations — for example, suggesting items from a friend's list as gifts you might give them.
• Aggregated insights: we may combine and anonymize data across users to show app-wide aggregations — for example, the most popular items in a category — so you can compare your picks against the broader Tenner community or your group. Aggregated data does not identify individual users.
• Personalized recommendations and ads: we may use your lists, interests, and activity to show you personalized content, product suggestions, or advertisements paid for by advertisers, businesses, or organizations. We do not sell your raw personal data to advertisers — ad targeting happens on our end based on what you've shared inside the app.
• New features: we may use your data to build and test new features (such as recommendation engines or content discovery) before launching them broadly.

Your choices

• You can choose to keep individual lists private — those lists will not be shared with friends, groups, or used in any of the aggregations or recommendations described above beyond what's needed to store them for you.
• You can manage the emails Tenner sends you from your profile settings — turn categories on/off, or unsubscribe from all non-essential emails at any time.
• You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time, from Profile → Account → Delete my account (see "Data retention and deletion" below).
• You can contact us at contact@mytenner.com to opt out of having your data used for personalized advertising or aggregated insights, though some features may not work as well without this data.

Automated content screening

Text and images are screened automatically before they are published — display names and bios, the things you put on a list, category names you invent, notes on list items, group names, comments and photos. The purpose is to keep abusive content off Tenner, and anything that fails is refused at the point you try to save it, with an explanation of which part to reword. This screening does not suspend or restrict your account on its own. If you think something was refused wrongly, email contact@mytenner.com and a person will look at it.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your raw personal data. We use the following service providers to operate the app:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting.
• Google — optional sign-in via Google OAuth.
• GitHub Pages — hosting the app's front-end.
• Resend — delivery of transactional and social emails.
• OpenAI — automated screening of text and images for abusive content, before they are published. The text or image is sent for a safety rating and a result comes back; it is not used to train anyone's models, and we do not send your name, email or account identifier with it.
• Cloudflare — serving the app and the images uploaded to it, including scanning uploaded images for child sexual abuse material, which we are obliged to report.

Content you choose to share with friends or groups inside the app is visible to those friends or group members.

Affiliate links

Tenner includes affiliate links from Amazon and, in the future, other retailers. When you click through and make a qualifying purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Tenner earns from qualifying purchases. We don't share your personal information with these retailers — Amazon only sees that a purchase came from a Tenner link, not who you are.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active.

You can delete your account yourself, from inside Tenner. Open Profile → Account and choose Delete my account. You will be shown exactly what is about to be removed and asked to confirm. The deletion happens immediately — there is no waiting period and you do not need to ask us.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your photo, every list you made, your comments and reactions, your friend connections, your group memberships, your notification settings and your email preferences.

Two things work differently, and we would rather say so than let you find out:

• Groups you created are handed to another member rather than deleted, so that other people's shared lists in that group survive. If you were the only member left, the group is deleted with you.
• A few records are de-identified rather than erased — anonymous usage analytics, any feedback you sent us, and affiliate click records we need for accounting. Your name and your account are removed from them; the rows themselves remain, no longer connected to you.

Encrypted backups cycle out on their own schedule and may retain deleted data for up to 30 days.

If you would rather we did it, or you cannot get into your account, email contact@mytenner.com and we will delete it for you within 30 days.

Children

Tenner is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

We use standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authentication tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
